Business Development Executive (East Coast)

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven professional to join our team in the United States. This role will drive growth across pharma and biotech by expanding our microbiome and metabolomics partnerships.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and identify new business opportunities, including new markets, partnerships, and growth areas, with a focus on microbiome applications in drug discovery, therapeutics, and diagnostics.
  • Responsible for executing sales process, from contact to contract, including email outreach, sales calls, software demos, answering technical questions, sending proposals/quotes, and post-sale support.
  • Responsible for selling to big pharma and early- to late-stage biotech companies on the east coast, emphasizing microbiome and metabolomics solutions tailored to pharmaceutical R&D, clinical trials, and personalized medicine initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with prospective and existing clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, leveraging insights into microbiome ecosystems to address unmet needs in areas like gut health, immunology, oncology, and infectious diseases.
  • Learn and sell our product portfolio of microbiome sequencing, analysis, and metabolomics services, highlighting their value in accelerating drug development pipelines, biomarker identification, and therapeutic targeting for big pharma partners.
  • Prepare and deliver impactful presentations, proposals, and pitch materials that demonstrate how our microbiome capabilities can integrate with big pharma's research workflows, including case studies on regulatory-compliant data generation and scalable analytics.
  • Collaborate with internal teams(marketing, product, operations, and scientific R&D) to align business development strategies with emerging microbiome trends and pharma market demands.
  • Track industry developments, competitor activities, and regulatory changes in microbiome science to inform business strategy and position as a key partner for big pharma innovations.
  • Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets, with metrics tied to revenue from big pharma contracts and microbiome-focused deals.
  • Represent company at networking events, conferences, trade shows, and industry forums focused on microbiome research, pharmaceuticals, and biotech, such as Microbiome Movement or BIO International Convention.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities in CRM systems, including detailed notes on client microbiome challenges and customized solution mappings.
  • Conduct market analysis on microbiome-related markets, including competitive landscape assessments and opportunity sizing for pharma applications like fecal  microbiotatransplantation (FMT) support or microbial therapeutics.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business,Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships (preferably within microbiome, biotech, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or technology sectors).
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to non-technical pharma executives.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets in B2B environments, ideally involving high-value contracts in life sciences.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate microbiome data and market insights into strategic business opportunities.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with metabolomics, microbiome science, or adjacent fields such as genomics, bioinformatics, or microbial therapeutics.
  • Understanding of regulatory or scientific frameworks relevant to operations, including FDA guidelines for microbiome-based products, IND filings, and GMP standards for pharma partnerships.
  • Experience managing B2Brelationships and long sales cycles in the pharmaceutical industry, with a track record of closing deals with big pharma clients.
  • Familiarity with microbiome market trends, including applications in drug efficacy testing, safety profiling, and companion diagnostics for big pharma portfolios.
